Jake Mathews
Jake Mathews is a Canadian country artist born and raised in the northern mining town of Sudbury Ontario, immortalized by Stompin’ Tom Connors for it’s wild Saturday nights. Now calling Calgary home for the past 25 years, Jake has enjoyed great success at radio and has truly left his mark in the music industry. With a string of hits such as “If I Had It My Way”, “Beer Necessities”, “Red Tail Lights”, “Time After Time”, “I’m Gone” and many more, Jake has captured the hearts of country music fans, earning him several top 20 hits at radio and numerous Canadian Country Music Award nominations. He released his self titled debut in 2002 and followed that up with his outstanding 2004 sophomore album Time After Time which garnered national critical acclaim and was awarded Album of the Year by Country Music News. In July of 2011 Jake released his album “Red Tail Lights” through On Ramp Records/ EMI. The first single “If I Had It My Way” was one of the TOP 5 most played songs of the year and spent an incredible 36 weeks on the charts and reached #9 on BDS. Jake has gone on to release multiple EPs and singles since then and was the recipient of the Country Recording of the Year at the 2020 YYC Music Awards for his song “Just Like A Country Song”. Having toured throughout Canada, Jake has also had the opportunity to take his music to an international stage. In recent years he has performed in Korea, Japan, New York, London, Berlin and Australia. “The connection I have with my audience is the most important part of what I do and being able to sing my songs in different parts of the world has been an incredible experience” says Jake. Songwriting also plays a big part in Jake’s career. As a co-writer of the Top 10 Hit “If I Had It My Way” he has also written 12 top 40 singles and has had over 80 songs recorded by artists in Canada and the US. Jake’s latest single “We Sing Songs” is now available at radio and all digital platforms.
Jake has also released French music under his given name Jacques Lagrandeur. He has recently returned to his roots by performing at the Edmonton Chante Francophone Festival in recent years, where he has presented his original songs as well as several other French songs that he grew up listening to. Jacques Lagrandeur is happy to release his first French single "Bière à la main" and introduce his style of country music to a whole new audience!
