George Brothers

George Brothers’ musical career spans over six decades!  He has recorded 5 albums, one of which Atlantic Sons & Daughters, won Folk Traditional recording of the year at the PEI Traditional Music Awards. 

With his group Ol Blue, he was nominated for Best New Country Artists at both the RPM and Big Country Awards. As a member of the group Country Mile he won the CCMA’s award for “ Outstanding Performance by a Group or Duo”. 

His songs have been recorded by over a dozen artists and he has co-written songs with Dallas Harms, Dave Carroll, and Jim Henman. 

George’s performing career has taken him from Maine to Montana to Nashville in the US, all over the British Isles, and coast to coast in Canada - several times over. 

He has produced over 30 recordings for other artists and 2 children’s albums. One of these “I Like Popcorn” for the Kidd Brothers led to them winning Children’s Entertainers of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards

He was inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame in 2023. 

Since moving to Peace River he has performed as a member of the Irish band the Croakers, as a member of the John Prine tribute act Broken Radios and as a solo folk/country artist and in the Celtic/folk duo Nick & George. He also performs a two hour tribute to Willie Nelson called “Always on My Mind - the Songs and Stories of Willie Nelson”
